Greetings from…post-boom Atlantic City

These are the ruins-in-training of Revel Casino taken from Rhode Island Ave looking east.  Despite putting $932 million into Revel Entertainment Group, Morgan Stanley decided in April of this year to halt construction and put its share up for sale.  Though construction stalled recently, the whole site has an accelerated bedraggled quality.  Salt spray and strong sun are unforgiving foes of buildings here and Revel has begun to prematurely weather: the building site is unkempt and its blank walls of reflective glass appeared filmy.  Despite its self important scale, Revel isrealizing it has more in common with its diminutive neighbors on Rhode Island Ave.  As we ranged in and out of the vacant spaces in the clear morning sun, the sound of Ennio Morricone’s theme to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly wafted out from an old bungalow.
